The Comptroller of  the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, James Sunday, PCC, talking to the business community through a media chat, has assured expatriates and foreign investors residing or conducting business in Rivers State of their safety and flourishing business before, during and after the General Elections.

The Comptroller emphasized the role of the NIS as facilitators of residency permits, work permits, special immigrant status(SIS), among others and issued his assurances to expatriates on the safety to the expatriates and their investments as far as they remain law abiding and compliant with all relevant immigration laws and regulations guiding their legal stay as regular migrants and bonafide investors in Rivers State and Nigeria. Further assurance of an open-door policy that guarantees smooth and seamless relationship between the NIS, Rivers State Command and the investors and foreign business community in Rivers was issued.

During the Media chat, the Comptroller also emphasized the need to  improve the economy and increase the rate of gainful employment of qualified Nigerians, mostly youths who must have finished their National Service. Highlighting initiatives of the NIS, the Comptroller references the requirement for understudies for each quota position as enshrined in the Expatriate Quota Grant provisions. This requirement increases the rate of employment and facilitates the transfer of knowledge, skills and technology.
