This edition highlights key immigration policy changes and advisories affecting Nigerian travellers and businesses, including the full automation of Temporary Work Permit (TWP) applications, the Nigeria Immigration Service’s upward review of passport fees, and a travel advisory issued on the responsible use of U.S. visas. These developments reflect the NIS’s ongoing commitment to improving service delivery, strengthening compliance, and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s travel documents.
Automation of Temporary Work Permit (TWP) Processing
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that Temporary Work Permit (TWP) applications are now fully automated. The TWP is a short-term visa issued to foreign professionals invited by Nigerian corporate organisations to deliver specialised, high-level services.
Previously, applicants were required to obtain a TWP Pre-approval letter from the NIS before submitting documents at the Nigerian Embassy in their country of residence. Under the new system, applicants must now register on the EAS portal and submit their requests directly through the official NIS website.
