CBN Issues Revised Guidelines for Agent Banking Operations
On 6 October 2025, the CBN issued the Guidelines for the Operations of Agent Banking in Nigeria (the “2025 Guidelines”), introducing updated minimum standards for agent banking operations in Nigeria. The 2025 Guidelines consolidate and repeal all other CBN guidelines on Agent banking and Agent banking relationships.
The 2025 Guidelines take immediate effect from 6 October 2025, while provisions relating to Agent location and exclusivity become operational from 1 April 2026.
